Picture Saver Index

Download

The following sections tell how you can download different PictureSaver installation packages.

Full (1.41 MB)

Click here to download the full PictureSaver package with all of the necessary Visual Basic 6 runtime libraries. If you are uncertain about what you need, this is probably it.

Small (248 KB)

Click here to download PictureSaver without Visual Basic 6 runtime libraries. If you have other Visual Basic 6 programs installed, the runtime libraries are already on your computer so you can use this version instead of the full version.

Visual Basic Project (11 KB)

Click here to download the PictureSaver Visual Basic 6 project source code.

Visual Basic 5 programmers click here for information on converting the project for Visual Basic 5.

If you are not a Visual Basic programmer but would like to learn how to program, click here. Be sure to look at the bottom where it explains how to get a free online book and a free> copy of the Visual Basic 5 Control Creation Edition (CCE).

Installation Instructions

    Install PictureSaver

  1. Unzip the PictureSaver package you downloaded in a new directory.
  2. Double click on setup.exe.
  3. Follow the Installation Wizard's instructions. It may want to reboot. If so, let it. You will probably need to start over at step 2 after the reboot. If the installation program crashes at the very end, don't worry about it.

    Configure PictureSaver

  4. On an empty part of the Windows desktop, right click and select Properties. Click the Screen Saver tab.
  5. In the Screen Saver dropdown list, select PictureSaver.

    Define PictureSaver Settings

  6. Click the Settings button.
  7. Enter the Interval in seconds you want between pictures. Enter 1 or 2 for very fast pictures, 30 or 60 for slower pictures.
  8. Enter a caption (if any) that you want displayed at the top of the screen.
  9. To add to the list of directories PictureSaver searches for images, click Add, select the directory, and click Ok.
  10. To remove a directory, click on the directory in the list and then click the Delete button.
  11. When you have defined the settings you want, click Ok.

    Test PictureSaver

  12. Click Preview to test PictureSaver.
  13. Click Ok to activate PictureSaver. The next time your system goes idle, PictureSaver will start.
PictureSaver can read files with .bmp, .jpg, .jpeg, and gif extensions.
