Selecting High Color In Windows 95

  1. Open the Control Panel's Display tool. Select the Settings tab.
  2. In the Color Palette list box, select High Color (16 bit).
  3. Click the Ok button. You need to reboot before the new values will take effect. The Display tool gives you the option to reboot immediately or later.

Selecting High Color In Windows NT

  1. Open the Control Panel's Display tool. Select the Settings tab.
  2. In the Color Palette list box, select 16777216 Colors.
  3. Click the Test button. When the test runs, you should see very smooth red, green, blue, and test gray gradients. If you do, answer Yes to the test's question. Otherwise answer No.
  4. Back in the Display tool, Click Ok and your screen will darken briefly. When it comes back, you will be running high color.

Selecting 256 Colors

  1. Follow the steps above except select 256 Colors using the Display tool.
